The Brief

Gunabal Homestead is an expanding regional tourism and wellness property complex on the Sunshine Coast, consisting of a golf course, wellness retreat, accommodation, and dining facility. It wanted an EV charging station installed that would attract a new cohort of visitors who would hopefully explore the homestead’s other amenities when stopping to charge their vehicles.

The Problem

With limited electrical capacity onsite, and the homestead’s kitchen increasing its power demand, the challenge was to provide a DC fast-charging solution that would not disrupt the limited available power.

Our Solution

• 1 x D1 Battery-integrated EV Charger which requires only 10-40 kW input from the grid for a fast DC 160 kW charge, enabling stable fast charging, while managing demand from the grid

Deployment

eLumina conducted a detailed site assessment and electrical upgrade plan and implemented a load management system to optimise charging capacity..
The charging infrastructure’s integration with the eLu charging network app enables users to book ahead to reserve their charging spot, facilitating Gunabal Homestead’s effective management of the site.

Outcome

Thanks to the charging site, more people are stopping at the location and spending money at Gunabal Homestead’s restaurant. There is also a potential opportunity to integrate a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the future to address the homestead’s challenges in capturing solar, ensuring power availability, managing increasing energy load, and optimising use time to avoid peak charges.
